Beneath the tree new stories were written
Valarie Brydon meeting her husband Ron, designer at the Ernst and Henry button factory when she was 17 years old. There first date was under a tree in West Auckland- personal memory from visiting the WI sewing group
Lewin’s factory
in c1955 it was owned by the Lewins family and the decked were cleared one night a week for the Youth Club. it had an unbelievable membership doing all sorts of sports. They built or provided the money for a sports track opposite what was Jones pop factory- Picture Trevor Hope and words by Martha Dodsworth
